19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a challenging period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to question if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved service.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
