Automobiles in German Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Police reported they were contacted by a man who found a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.

City officials said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for tips.

An important representative said the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be solved promptly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
